Welcome to the official website of Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), or the so-called Communication UMM.

Established in 1986, Communication UMM along with the development of science and technology has gradually improved its quality which is recognized by various achievements both at the national and international levels.

Since 2021, Communication UMM was officially achieved the AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance) certification. It has also maintained the A predicate three times successively from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN PT) since 2009.  In addition, Communication UMM received awards from the Mix Magazine as the Indonesia Best Schools of Communications and Management from 2013 to 2015.

Based on its vision since it was established, Communication UMM has the peculiarity of developing knowledge and skills in the communication field based on the Islamic values. Two major fields of its graduates’ profile are working as communication practitioners and researchers. Both are instilled Islamic values as core values which include upholding truth (al-haq), integrity (amanah), hard work ethic, invitation to kindness (da’wah bi al-mauidho hasanah), piety, and mercy to the world (rahmatan lil alamin).

The learning and working climates in this study program are keen and enthusiastic which are summarized into 3C (Creative, Communicative, and Collaborative). The creativity of lecturers and students is grown up continuously by making the laboratory a source of creativity and innovation. A communicative way of working is an unavoidable necessity to achieve optimal service. Meanwhile, collaborative enthusiasm is fostered to strengthen productivity and broaden the spectrum of association and cooperation.

Riding into the era of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0, the Communication Science Study Program has no choice yet but to make quick adaptation even exponentially. Hence, the thoughtful management of this Study Program must be accompanied by the whole academician’s enthusiasms and collaborations. Although all of the academicians need to work quickly and enthusiastically, a fun atmosphere has to be maintained. As like the character of the millennial generation, our way of working is like adopting those who are idealistic, open-minded, technology-friendly, progressive, and also considering the work-life balance.

We are pleased to welcome the new generations of the Communication Science of Study Program who have pride and admiration in their alma maters. Let's learn and move forward together!
